As you can guess from the title this website is full of information about gaming computers.  What you will not find here is information about gaming consoles.  As a matter of fact the only place you will find reference to them is here in this introduction.  As hardcore gamers know, gaming computers are the preferred platform for gaming.  If you are looking for information to upgrade, build, or buy a gaming computer please follow the navigation links to get started.  The rest of this introduction is to help educate consol users as to the error of their ways.

First, let’s get something straight.  When we’re talking about a gaming computer we aren’t talking about the $500 computer you ordered from Dell.  If that is what your mouse is connected to right now most likely you are viewing this website from a machine using integrated graphics.  That is precisely the reason it had a cardiac arrest when you tried to play Crysis.  A requirement of a gaming PC is that it has a stand alone video card.  We’re going to cover all of the components but for now understand that if you think your Xbox 360 has amazing graphics compared to your computer, suffice it to say you do not own a gaming computer.  Thankfully you’ve come to the right place to get you on to the straight and narrow.

The computer industry drives the technology that is used in consoles.  For this reason a computer is always going to be out in front as far as technology is concerned.  The technology the consol user is enjoying the hardcore gamer enjoyed two to three years prior.  It’s just the way it is computer gamers drive the technology.  A consol is just a small, dedicated computer.  It only does one thing and they generally sell for $300-$500.  You can’t get much of a computer for $300-$500 so why would you think it could outperform a Gaming Computer?  It can’t.

Another benefit of the gaming computer is that it is upgradeable and customizable.  Customizing a PS3 consists of putting some stickers on it.  With a computer you can get it built to any size, shape, color, and you can determine what’s under the hood.  How big or how many hard drives do you want?  Choose your computer processor, video card (you can even have multiple video cards), not to mention you can overclock your components to get even more performance out of them.

No cumbersome controller.  For first person shooters a mouse and keyboard will always beat out a hand held controller.  It’s just a superior configuration.  The keyboard also allows you to customize what button does what to a greater degree than you could ever do on a controller.  Most controllers have eight buttons.  I have five buttons just on my mouse alone; add in the keys on the keyboard that are positioned much better it allows a superior gaming experience.  Moving backwards, side to side, aiming, it’s all more controlled.

If I haven’t convinced you by now than it may be a lost cause.  The last thing I will say on the topic, oh, I could go on for pages but I need to get back to providing the hardcore gamers with the information they are looking for.  As I was about to say, don’t forget that a computer even if it’s primary purpose is gaming, has multiple uses.  It still browses the Internet, helps with homework, work, etc.  Try to get that functionality out of a consol.
